President/Owner: James C. Harris, Jr.

Warren County native James C. Harris, Jr. (Jim/Jimmy) grew up at Buxton Place in the Inez Community. He graduated in 1965 from John Graham High School in Warrenton and continued his education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, earning a B.S. degree in Animal Science.

Following graduation, he put his degree and farm background to work by managing a farm in Warren County. Gradually, he has moved toward farming as a hobby and general contracting as a profession. He started Harris Equipment Company in 1987. The company has seen steady growth in the nearly two decades of operation, moving from providing service for individuals on individual lots to working on multi-acre sites for commercial development.

Still, the company, like its owner, operates with an eye for detail and looks for ways to help the customer who may need service on a smaller level. Throughout its history of operation, Harris Equipment Company has been dedicated to providing the best quality service for customers. “We are committed to quality work in a timely manner,” Harris said, “We do the job right.”

Harris is married to the former Mary Catherine Joyner, a Rocky Mount native. The family includes three daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren.

Utility Division Director/Project Manager: Rodney Hoffman

As the Utility Division Director, Rod brings to the table a lifetime of grading and utility experience. His personal experience began with his father’s business in the 1970’s as a laborer and equipment operator. He believes that starting from the very bottom and working your way up is the only way to fully understand every aspect of this work. With a management style honed from twenty-one years of military service, Rod has the ability to manage, lead and coordinate safely and effectively. His years of experience in the engineering and surveying field give him a perspective seldom found in a construction company. Let Rod put his experience to work for you.

 

Grading Division Director: Milo Hoffman

As the Grading Division Director, Milo started out in his father’s business as an equipment operator and has continued to build on that training. Milo has a background in both the private and governmental arena and is familiar with all types of equipment and procedures necessary to expedite any job. With extensive knowledge in utility, concrete, clearing and erosion control, he can handle all your needs. Let Milo put his skills to work for you.
